FUNDING AND REBATES
Am I eligible for rebates?
There are a few different rebate options that your child may be able to access. Some can be accessed through your GP (such as a Chronic Disease Management Plan) and some through your paediatrician (e.g. Helping Children With Autism plan). Some children may also be eligible for NDIS.

How do I claim Medicare or private health rebates?
After completing payment we will provide you with a receipt and you can process the rebate directly. Check with your private health provider and if they cover occupational therapy we will email the receipt and you can process the rebate.

Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate?
Ask your GP or paediatrician about eligibility for Medicare plans. Note: rebates only cover part of the appointment cost.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
Is Sunnyside Therapy an NDIS provider?
Yes, we’re registered under Therapeutic Supports for Improved Daily Living.
What services does Sunnyside Therapy offer under NDIS?
We provide goal-driven therapeutic supports and family education. We don’t offer equipment prescriptions, home modifications, or behaviour plans. Contact us to confirm fit.
Do I need to share my NDIS plan?
Sharing your goals (even verbally) helps us align therapy to your plan. We can keep a copy if preferred and adjust agreements as priorities change.
How do I prepare for an NDIS planning meeting?
Allow four weeks for us to prepare a high-quality report. This includes parent input, a face-to-face meeting, and a summary with recommendations.
What is a service agreement?
It outlines therapy costs and guides NDIS fund allocation. You remain in control of how funds are used.
What services can NDIS funds cover?
We provide goal-driven therapeutic supports and family education which can be completed in clinic, at home and service visits i.e. childcare visits, school visits (upon request). We offer equipment prescriptions, minor and major home modifications and vehicle modifications. We do not complete behaviour management plans. Please contact us to confirm fit.
NEW CLIENTS
Does my child need a referral?
No, but referrals may help access rebates or funding.
Is there a waiting list?
Yes, wait times depend on your availability and preferences. Consider joining other providers’ lists for flexibility.
How do I book an appointment?
Call us or email us to join our waitlist. We will provide you with an initial contact form. Once that has been completed, you will be placed on our waitlist.
What happens before the intake appointment?
You’ll receive a Service Agreement to complete online. Arrive 5 minutes early and bring any paperwork or plans you would like to share with us. These can be emailed to us prior to your appointment.
What will the first appointment look like?
The 60-90-minute intake focuses on setting family-centred goals and creating a therapy plan. Parents may attend alone for sensitive discussions. We often encourage the child and other important family members and carers to be present during this consultation.
What are therapy sessions like?
Sessions include updates with parents/carers, education, and collaborative strategies to support follow-through at home.
